Wang Jianlin

Wang Jianlin (b. 1954) is a Chinese businessman.[1] He is the Chairman of the Dalian Wanda Group.[2][3][4][5]

Biography

From 1970 to 1986, he served in the Republic of China Armed Forces.[1][5] In 1986, he worked as Office Administrator for the Xigang District in the city of Dalian.[5] In 1989, he became the General Manager of Xigang Residential Development Company.[5] He was Head of Factory in a Jiangyin-based factory.[6] In 1992, he started working as the General Manager for the Dalian Wanda Group.[5] He has served as its CEO since 1993.[5] He has also been serving as Executive Deputy General Manager and Director in Jiangsu Jiangnan Water Co., a company in Jiangsu.[6]

In 1996, he joined the Communist Party of China.[1] He served as deputy to the 17th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.[4][5] He now serves as the Vice-Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and has been a member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference since 2008.[1][4][5] He is also a member of the China Entrepreneur Association, the China Enterprise Directors Association, the China General Chamber of Commerce, and China Real Estate.[5]

He owns seven million square meters of leased commercial real estate, 50 movie theaters, and 8 five-star hotels.[4] According to Forbes, he is the 232nd richest man in the world, with US$4.6 billion.[3] In 2011, he donated one billion yuan (US$156.3 million) to the city of Nanjing to help the reconstruction of the Porcelain Tower of Nanjing.[7]
